2011 marks the 75th anniversary of
the world's first ski chairlift in Sun Valley Idaho in 1936.

The Sun Valley Chairlift Story

The first two chairlifts in the world were built on
Dollar and Proctor Mountain in 1936 at Sun Valley.
In 1939, in order to serve Bald Mountain, a series of
three single chairlifts were installed.

The 1939 single chairlift was removed In 1969 to modernize to a double chair.
In 1974, the city of Cordova, Alaska purchased the original Christmas Ridge lift
and installed it at Mt Eyak - a non-profit ski area operated by the city.

Now retired, the original 1939 chairlifts are being offered to the public for the first time!

Mt Eyak has enlisted Vintage Snow to facilitate the sale of the Sun Valley chairlifts.
